When the Brighton based producer iambic (aka Guy Andrews) set out to push his electronic music in a more live direction it was clear that the outcome would be something special. His previous EP on Frisk Records laid the foundations and now Nocturnes, the latest EP from iambic, expands on this unique electro-acoustic/jazz sound.

The Nocturnes EP consists of six songs (plus a bonus radio edit) written and produced by Guy Andrews. Nocturnes brings a strong influence from Jazz music but augments it with the strings and guitars often found in modern electro-acoustic and post-rock compositions, and the electronics from more ambient based genres. Iambic hints his natural progression back to writing more electronic based music, yet achieves the organic sounds that have now become a trademark in his diverse electronic production style.

The Nocturnes EP by iambic will be released on Frisk Records on 27th September 2010. It will be available on the Frisk Records shop (http://shop.friskrecords.com) and all the major digital music retailers.

You can buy the Nocturnes EP on the Frisk Records shop.

‘Move’ is a concept EP based around minimal lo-fi recording techniques and short improvised loops. These four songs were played and recorded by Guy using any instruments and household items he could find that made noise. Short loops were constructed and layered on top of each other to create an extremely organic sounding EP. Once the loops were created, Guy arranged them into full songs that mimicks the order they were recorded in to keep the original vibe. Over the entire EP there is only one synthesised sound, a first for iambic!

The Moving Dawn Orchestra is the latest project from Guy Andrews, a UK based producer known for the ambient electro-acoustic jazz act ‘iambic’.

Reviews:

I think we’ve all forgotten just how integral things like sleeve art used to be when you picked up a release. In this modern age of throwaway file shares and digital bundles it takes a release like this to make you realise what we may have lost. – London News 020 Magazine

Dials is a graceful suite of four mid-length compositions with minimalist sparsity and contemporary beauty. – Morpheus Magazine

These tracks drip with calming ambience. – Chris Grenville

The Dials EP is available through the Frisk Records Shop
